How’s this for a competitor draw prize!

After a tough year we’ve had plenty of reasons to smile in the past few weeks, with some new sponsors confirmed, some old sponsors returned, and – you’re going to love this – Mooloolaba-based World Surfaris, one of the world’s leading surf travel companies, has come on board with what we reckon is the best competitor draw prize in the festival’s history – an Ocean Divine luxury Maldives boat charter trip for two, flying Singapore Airlines from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Valued at $9,350 and available to use over the 2013 or 2014 seasons, this is a dream prize for surfers of all ages, an opportunity to surf some of the best waves in the world with a small group of fellow passengers while soaking up the beauty of the Maldives atolls from an exquisite boat. This is a real plus for competitors because remember, you’ve got a one in 500 chance of winning with every division entry you put in, plus bonus chances from participating in our competitor survey (coming in January) and through our beach bar loyalty cards. We’ll also have plenty of other major prizes for competitors too, starting with a Laguna Bay Longboards mal (more details next newsletter).

Duct Tape Invitational joins pro division

The return of Laguna Bay Longboards as naming rights sponsor for the Logger Pro is great news, and with World Surfaris/Ocean Divine picking up the women’s pro, Golden Breed back with the Noserider Pro and Seaglass Project back with the Finless Pro, we have a pro division that will attract the very best from around the world. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, in the days before Christmas we finally sealed a deal to bring Joel Tudor’s Duct Tape Invitational to town during festival week.

The Duct Tape, which features 16 of the best traditional longboarders in the world, has been a huge hit around the world over the past couple of years, with successful events held in France, Spain and California. Twice world longboard champion and master stylist Joel Tudor put the concept together with backing from his sponsor, Vans, to promote traditional longboarding, and oversees the running of each event. Tudor selects the invitees, but in Noosa, 15 of Joel’s invitees will join the winner of the Laguna Bay Logger Pro to do battle for the $10,000 prize money.

As with last year’s event, the Laguna Bay Logger Pro will be open to surfers of all ages and both genders. The World Surfaris/Ocean Divine Women’s Pro will be a regulation high performance event.

Surftech SUPS Super Sunday

We’re stoked to announce the return of Surftech to our family of sponsors, taking on naming rights to our stand up paddle division, incorporating
three surf events and our 5K BOP race. The SUPS division will open the festival, with all events being completed on “Super Sunday”, prior to the official opening ceremony on Sunday evening, March 10. This is in keeping with the wishes of many SUPS competitors who need to limit their time away from work. This year the Sunshine Coast SUPS Club has joined us as host of Super Sunday, helping put the events together and liaising with competitors. And Quiver Kaddy will be the sponsor of the Over 50 Men’s longboarding , For the first year for Quiver Kaddy as n
aming rights over one amateur beach event. Nominated event:  Quiver Kaddy Mens 50 & Over,,, Even though ,Quiver Kaddy  have been involved with the event for a number of years , The Big year was the Girls in bikinis, running along the beach , with boards and the Quiver Kaddies in tow , It made for a great eye candy  in the last days of the events ,

Summer Bright on tap in Beach Bar

The Noosa Crick’s Jeep Festival of Surfing Beach Bar will take on a distinctly golden hue next March with XXXX Summer Bright Lager taking naming rights sponsorship. The Lion Group’s popular party beer will be offered on tap at an expanded, new look bar and entertainment area, part of the PJ Burns Festival Village.  Draft Summer Bright will be the flagship beer, sold along with other Lion products such as XXXX Gold, and premium wine and mixed spirits drinks from Lion affiliates.

The XXXX Summer Bright Lager Beach Bar will be open each day of the festival during afternoon and sundown hours, enabling people to watch the last surfing heats of the day in one direction and live music and movies on the Zinc Stage in the other.
